The launch ceremony of the City of Santuary Blackburn with Darwen Group was held today (Thursday, 19 April) in Blackburn. About 100 people from various charities, faith groups, schools, local Councillors , concerned citizens, and members of the refugee community attended the event. The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, was the special guest at the event.

The YMCA Champions and other individuals and organisations are proud to at last be part of the City of Sanctuary movement.  Individuals,organisations, support services and schools in Blackburn with Darwen have for many years welcomed those fleeing their country. We will continue to do this with an ever growing number from our communities and organisations. We are of course delighted that we also have the support of our local councils.
